Photography is one of my favorite leisure. I feel so happy each time I play with my camera. Today, I want to share with you the way I take my pictures for my doll. I hope it will help you a little bit.
Lighting
The most important thing in photography is lighting. It’s the main key for your beautiful photo. I found out that the nature light give the best quality photo. However, in the winter in Canada, we don’t have so much sunlight, so I usually use the artificial lighting. My favorite light setup is two-light set up. Simply, I place the key light above the camera at about 45° angle to the subject. Then I place the fill light is opposite the key light to soften the shadows. It’s better to use the softbox. I use 1 yellow light and 1 white light to balance the color. Because I love the brilliant color than I use the yellow light as key light. My brand light is Godox. They have so many type of products with the different price so you can choose the one fits you most.
Photo Props
My marketing proff told us that when the company sell the stuff for the childrent, they allways use the bright color and put some chidlren toys in the picture with the product. This tip works verry well. It will remind the feeling of happy and joyful. So if you want to sell your doll, you can put some children stuffs in the photo with your doll.
Backdrop
I love the wooden backdrop. It works with any topic from food to toy. The fiber is a good option too. You can mix 2 of them and see how it turns out. In additon, the colorful backdrop is very eyecatching. You can use 1 color or mix 2 of them. Use the color theory to find the right way.
Camera
For camera, you have many options. Each brand gives you the different color. I use sony because I love the lens system. They have the same lens for their diffrent camera. It means I can use my old lens when I change to new camera. It help me to save a lots of money because the price of lens is quite expensive.
Your phone is a best tool to take picture too. It’s simple and quick. Just make sure that you have enought light and you will have a beautiful picture.
Photoshop
Photoshop is my best friends to make a perfect picture. With some simple steps, you can make your picture more beautiful and professional. I learn everything about photoshop in the youtube. There are ton of tutorial videos. You can search and got many tips from youtube. Here is one of my favorite photograhpher youtuber:
